FA CUP EXTRA PRELIMINARY ROUND TEVERSAL 1 LOUGHBOROUGH UNI FC 2 LOUGHBOROUGH University progressed through the FA Cup extra preliminary round with a 2-1 Victory away at Teversal FC.

The scholars made the trip up the M1 after earning a point after going down to 10 men on Tuesday night against Lye Town with Joel Bonner scoring with three minutes to go.

In a changed team from Tuesday night the Uni controlled the tempo of the game in the early stages with Joe Boachie and Jerimiah Dasaolu causing problems for the Teversal backline.

It was a combination of the two who delivered the first goal for the Scholars on 18 minutes, with Dasaolu being brought down for a penalty and Boachie converting from the spot.

The scholars remained on top for the rest of the half but didn’t manage to capitalise and get a second half.

However this soon changed as it only took 10 minutes of the second half for the scholars and Boachie to register their second. Good work from Chris Eneremadu led to Boachie picking up the ball, beating three men and finishing with his deflection shot beating the keeper at his far post.

With the lead being extended Teversal looked to get back into the game which created spaces in behind a high defensive line. Boachie had the opportunity to seal his hat trick with two good chances. He first pinched the ball 30 yards out to be one agains one with the keeper but his effort slipped past the post.

His second opportunity saw an attempted chip go comfortably over the bar.

Teversal had an opportunity to get back in the game when scholars midfielder Dan Hanson was sent off for a second yellow card.

This allowed Teversal to have more of the ball but chances were still at a minimum. They did get a goal back in the final minutes of normal time with a cross finding Williams whose header beat out of position O’Keefe in goal.

Although seven minutes were added on the scholars maintained their lead and Boachie’s double sees them host 2017 FA Vase finalists Cleethorpes Town on August 25.
