Fitness coach to feature in book on mums in business
A SILEBY health and fitness coach is to feature in a new book about mums in business and the difficulties they have overcome.
Laura Bland (36) lives in Sileby with her partner Leigh and their six-year-old daughter but as a family they have faced a number of challenges over the years. Laura’s partner was injured whilst at work and four years later, when their daughter was 15 months old, he had to undergo surgery to have his right leg amputated just below the knee.
On the run up to the surgery and in the years since, Leigh has undergone several operations, been away from home for weeks at a time, and not always been physically able to participate in family life.
It was during this time that Laura found that she needed something more for herself and as luck would have it both Leigh and Laura found exercise to be their saviour, but in very different ways.
Leigh has gone on to complete in dis- abled strongman competitions – earning the title of Britain’s 2nd strongest disabled man in 2017. Laura, on the other hand has found home workouts to be her saviour, giving her some much needed focus on her own health and fitness and now allowing her to help others on their journey.
Laura is now a featured author in a book, sponsored by Mums In Business Association, that has been co-written by her and 27 other women, all with different stories to tell of the obstacles they have faced and how they have overcome them.
The book will be available to preorder on Amazon on September 4 and will be released on Kindle on October 4 and in paperback on October 11.
Laura said: “I’m really grateful to have this opportunity to share my story; we often feel like we are alone in these situations and it can be really hard to cope, so I hope that by sharing with others I can not only bring them comfort in knowing they aren’t alone, but I can also inspire others to make their own health and fitness a priority.”
