Six goal thriller for Shepshed

THE EMIRATES FA CUP EXTRA PRELIMINAR­Y ROUND

WORKSOP TOWN 3 SHEPSHED DYNAMO 3 WORKSOP Town and Shepshed Dynamo battled out an entertaini­ng 3-3 draw at Sandy Lane in The Emirates FA Cup Extra Preliminar­y round.

In a game full of incident with a converted and missed penalty and a man sent off, Both teams deserved another chance for the right to meet Carlton Town at home on Saturday, August 25.

Shepshed got off to the worst possible start with Kyle Jordan volleying home a long ball to give Worksop the lead on four minutes.

Then on 11 minutes Ryan Robbins was brought down in the area. Karl Whymark stepped up to take the penalty and Dave Reay in the Town goal moved smartly to his left to deny Dyanmo an equaliser.

But Shepshed continued to look to get back onto level terms Chris Acott’s shot saved by Reay on 13 minutes. Three minutes later the game regained parity Whymark picking the ball up on the edge of the box his shot didn’t look like it was troubling Reay but took a massive swerve at the last minute to put Shepshed level.

The home side were back in front on 18 minutes, Kyle Jordan advancing in the area was brought down by Jake Betts. Jordan stepped up and converted the penalty himself.

Shepshed weren’t going lo let the hosts have it all their own way and thought they had equalised on 29 minutes when Betts latched onto a fumbled cross by Reay his header found the Town net but the assistant referee’s flag was raised for offside.

Niall Prendervil­le then fired wide for Shepshed before Wankiewicz went close for Worksop.

Shepshed were reduced to 10 men on 40 minutes when Ryan Robbins was deemed to have kicked out at a Worksop player, but still could have gone in front two minutes later when Liam Hurst’s effort was saved by Reay likewise again two minutes later.

The Tigers finished the half strongly with Craig Mitchell’s effort crashing against the Shepshed crossbar and Brunt’s effort saved on the stroke of half time.

Shepshed pushed from the start of the second half with Betts close on 47 minutes and Celson Patrocinio on as sub having his effort blocked on 51 minutes.

The game continued to be an end to end battle with Jordan firing straight at Brandon Ganley on 54 minutes and Patrocinio firing over for Shepshed a minute later.

Dynamo levelled the game on 60 minutes, Melbourne entered the Worksop box where he was initially brought down by Max Pemberton but he regained his footing to round Reay and slot home the equaliser. The hosts were back in front on 68 minutes, Steve Woolley’s corner was partially cleared the ball found Brunt on the edge of area his volley hammered into the ground left Ganley rooted to the spot as the ball went into the bottom corner.

Shepshed for the third time in the game went looking for another equaliser Melbourne again close on 69 minutes before Prendervil­le’s header was saved. Whymark then had an effort blocked a further minute later.

Dynamo did level again on 72, minutes Prendervil­le’s long distance effort flying past Reay into

the top corner.

Worksop likewise went looking to go in front for a fourth time Pemberton’s header wide on 80 minutes.

Both teams had gilt edged chances to clinch the game late on Hurst going agonisingl­y close for Shepshed on 83 minutes .

Brunt then had an effort blocked on 90 minutes for the Tigers before Thomas Poole had their best chance to settle the game it looked easier for him to lob the advancing Ganley but his effort was put into the welcome hands of Ganley.
