FANTASTIC FOUR #1

WHILE most of Marvel’s characters are enjoying their day in the sun, the poor Fantastic Four have been languishing in Fox’s cupboard.

So it’s great to see them getting a new lease of life, in comic form at least.

In a timely doff to the past, the first part of this new monthly run is released on the same day the first Fantastic Four was published 57 years ago. It’s only right that Marvel has assembled some of its finest to create this new storyline, with Dan Slott on writing duties, and Sara Pichelli creating the stunning artwork.

Fantastic Four #1, priced £3.35 is out now.

HIS CONTINUING MISSION

IT’S fair to say Star Trek fans have been a bit giddy since Sir Patrick Stewart’s announcement at the weekend.

Appearing as a surprise guest at Star Trek: Las Vegas, the 78-year-old revealed Jean Luc Picard, above, is returning to the small screen. After telling fans he had been spending time rewatching episodes of The Next Generation, the crowd exploded as he simply stated: “Jean Luc Picard is back.”

While the star admitted he had believed his time with Star Trek had “run its natural course”, he now felt it was time to bring the much-loved character back in a “fresh, unexpected and pertinent” story.

More details are expected soon.

BE-WITCHING

FRESH from thrilling fans in Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Henry Cavill has revealed the next role he’s set his sights on.

The Superman star, pictured, confessed he’d really like to play Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s planned adaptation of The Witcher.

The streaming giant announced last year that it was working on a series based on author Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher books.

Speaking to IGN, Cavill said: “Yeah, that would be an amazing role. The Witcher 3. I just replayed all the way through. Love that game. Really good game.”
