IN SPITE of the Saturday downpour, this year’s Shepshed Scaresheep Festival has been hailed a great success with hundreds of people touring the town to look at the creative entries.

Businesses and residents created special displays for the festival held over Saturday and Sunday, which raised money for Shepshed Volunteer Centre.

Event organiser Angie Whitmore said: “After a rather soggy start to the weekend, the Scaresheep festival turned out to be another success for the community of Shepshed.

“There were lots of people walking around and enjoying the sunshine on Sunday.

“We had 26 entries, all very different and inventive. There was such a lot of hard work put into all the entries and we would like to thank everyone who contributed.

“Winners of the different categories will be announced next week and I’m sure the competition will be a tight one.

“We will be running the event again next year, so have a good think about what you might like to create for the festival.”
