Vol­un­teers praised by North West Le­ices­ter­shire Dis­trict Coun­cil

MORE than 80 peo­ple were praised for their vol­un­teer­ing ef­forts at a spe­cial af­ter­noon tea.

A host of vol­un­teers joined North West Le­ices­ter­shire Dis­trict Coun­cil at its Cel­e­bra­tion of Vol­un­teers event, which was hosted and spon­sored by Radis­son Blu Ho­tel at East Mid­lands Air­port.

The event was or­gan­ised to recog­nise

the con­tri­bu­tion that in­di­vid­u­als and groups make to their com­mu­ni­ties by or­gan­is­ing events, projects and ini­tia­tives and sup­port­ing oth­ers.

Af­ter be­ing treated to a de­li­cious af­ter­noon tea pro­vided by the Radis­son Blu Ho­tel, the deputy leader of the coun­cil thanked vol­un­teers for all their hard work and com­mit­ment within their lo­cal com­mu­nity.

Coun Ali­son Smith, deputy leader and port­fo­lio holder for com­mu­nity ser­vices, said: “We are blessed to have so many ded­i­cated vol­un­teers do­ing in­cred­i­ble work across the dis­trict and it’s only right we show grat­i­tude for all of the ef­fort they give. We sup­port them and they sup­port us; it’s a two way street.

“This event was a small thank you for all the vol­un­teer work done by these

spe­cial peo­ple. It was fan­tas­tic to see so many smil­ing faces get­ting the recog­ni­tion and thanks they de­serve.”

Deena Squires, di­rec­tor of sales at the Radis­son Blu Ho­tel, East Mid­lands Air­port, said: “We’re de­lighted to sup­port this great event and help say a very sin­cere thank you to com­mu­ni­ties and in­di­vid­u­als who do so much for North West Le­ices­ter­shire.”
