TRIBUTES have been paid to Charnwood Borough councillor, Coun John Sutherington, who has sadly passed away.

Coun Sutherington represented the Anstey Ward and had served the council since being elected in May 1999.

Coun Jonathan Morgan, leader of Charnwood Borough Council, said: “This is really sad news and our thoughts are with John’s family and friends at this time.

“John was a popular councillor and cared greatly about the community and residents he served. He was also a great friend to many members on Charnwood Borough Council and he will be sorely missed.

“We know he has battled health issues over recent years and it is testament to his character that he attended full council just a few weeks ago to make sure residents in his ward were represented.”

Coun Sutherington’s most recent committee membership included the overview scrutiny group and the licensing committee.
