Paint and draw session is being relaunched
CHARNWOOD Drawing and Painting Club is relaunching its popular Monday Night paint and draw sessions after repeated requests from fellow art enthusiasts for ‘space and tranquillity to paint’ in the cold winter nights.
The sessions will provide an opportunity for two hours of blissful painting (or sketching) allowing seasoned artists and beginners alike to ‘splash it about’. Club chair David Chaplin said: “Winter evenings between 7pm and 9pm are a great time to explore your inner creativity in the company of others, which enables the cross fertilisation of ideas and with minimum supervision.
“Nanpantan Bowls Club have kindly hired us the space so the cost to members and guests (all are invited to come) is very reasonable and includes a complimentary cup of tea/ coffee.
“The first session will be on December 3 and those wishing to join us will in the main use their own painting materials and make bookings on a weekly basis by phoning Paul Lockton on 01509 219002.”
Charnwood Drawing and Painting hold regular demonstrations in Loughborough. The next demonstration will be held on Tuesday, November 27, from 7pm to 9pm will feature accomplished oil and watercolourist Carol Hill, who will be at Woodbrook Vale School, Grasmere Road, Loughborough.
Carol’s theme for the evening will
be ‘Tuscany’ and she will explore the versatility and subtlety of Italian landscapes using these remarkable mediums.
Carol learnt to paint while living in the Far East in the 1960s and it was there that her passion for painting began. She attended the art department in Hong Kong University under an American resident tutor who taught her oil painting for two years. The subjects were mainly landscape,
still-life and portraiture as well as seascapes. Carol also studied Chinese painting with Professor Lau Ta Po for over a year.
Further details about the club’s art demonstrations and workshops can be seen on www.charnwooddrawingpaintingclub.com.
