Hundreds expected at Christmas tree festival
HUNDREDS OF people are expected at St Botolph’s Church this weekend as it plays host to Shepshed Rotary Club’s popular Christmas Tree Festival.
It was a record breaking event last year and organisers are hoping that this year’s event will be even better.
The festival starts on Friday (November 30) when the church will be open from 3.15pm-7pm, continues on Saturday (December 1) from 10am-5pm and finishes on Sunday (December 2) when it will be open from 2pm-5pm.
Entry is £2 (children free), including a free raffle. There will also be a tombola and refreshments, with mince pies on Sunday.
A Rotary Club spokesman said: “We have a wide variety of trees which come from the Primary Schools, Children’s Day Nurseries, Scouts, Guides, Brownie Groups, many Commercial organisa- tions, local clubs and societies and many of St Botolph’s Church groups will all be there to view. Last year we had a record number of trees, all displaying a wide variety of themes and decorations, in the beautiful setting of Botolph’s Church.”
