Top university footballers visit Sacred Heart school
YEAR 5 and 6 children of Sacred Heart Catholic Voluntary Academy, in Beacon Road got the chance to meet and play with two Loughborough University football scholars.
Star signings from the world of football and higher education, Conor O’Keefe and Jeremiah Dasaolu, play their football at Loughborough University Stadium for the “Scholars”, whilst also studying for an undergraduate degree at the university.
Various players from the 1st team squad will be visiting Sacred Heart regularly over the coming months, to run sessions and give out free tickets to fixtures at Loughborough University Stadium, so that the stars of the future in either a sporting or academic context, can also see their role models in action on the field.
The sessions are designed to put the university players at the heart of the local community, as role models to the next generation of student athletes.
For the Scholars, combining academia with elite sport can be challenging, but the message to the youngsters is that it’s important to achieve on both fronts.
