As a former trader it saddens me to see this
AS A retired market trader of which many happy years were spent on Loughborough market it saddens me to see its demise.
The markets were never cancelled in my day, we had weights for the stalls, the present set up appears to use no weights, could that be the reason for so many cancelled markets on what seems to be perfect weather for this time of year and good market days.
I have visited Loughborough market a couple of times in recent weeks to find the market closed on both days and no shoppers in town, how do the council expect the stall holders to make a living, how do they expect shoppers to visit and shop when they can’t rely on the market being open.
Loughborough town centre needs a thriving market to survive.
And I understand that moving the bus stops has also had a devastating effect on footfall
