Hames has sights set on the World Championships
LOUGHBOROUGH bobsleigher Adam Hames has hit sights set on the World Championships next month after becoming the youngest ever male from Great Britain to compete on the IBSF World Cup circuit.
Hames (19) from Loughborough returned home just for a few days over Christmas after spending time training and racing in Canada, The USA and Germany before heading back out to Germany on New Year’s Eve for further races on the IBSF World Cup.
It follows a great end to 2018 which saw him selected onto the senior men’s World Cup Team on the GB number 1 sled and make his International 2-man début as brake-man at the IBSF North America’s Cup in Park City where he finished in 4th place with the second fastest start.
He then went on to make his International 4-man debut at the IBSF North America’s Cup in Lake Placid with medal winning 2nd and 3rd place finishes.
In Winterberg, Germany, he made history as the youngest ever male from Great Britain to compete on the IBSF World Cup in the 4-man race with a 17th place finish.
He has now been selected to compete in the second half of the season on the men’s GB1 team for the rest of the World Cup circuit leading up to World Championship selection in Whistler, Canada in February.
