Dynamo fightback to win their third game in a row

EVOSTIK PREMIER LEAGUE DIVISION ONE EAST

MARSKE UNITED 1 LOUGHBOROUGH DYNAMO 2 LOUGHBOROUGH Dynamo have now won three games on the bounce as they came from behind to beat Marske United 2-1 on Saturday and gain revenge for a 4-0 defeat earlier in the season.

Dynamo boss Lee Attenborough named a unchanged side from the 3-2 comeback win over Carlton on New Year’s Day and the opening exchanges started reasonably even.

On seven minutes, Marske’s Curtis Round crossed to Liddle, who had two attempts at goal, with the latter landing straight at Dynamo goalkeeper Charlie Taylor.

On 25 minutes, Marske had a golden opportunity to take the lead. A long ball was played for James Fairley to chase, he controlled it and took the ball around Taylor, but his shot that was goal-bound was heroically cleared off the line by Dynamo defender Louis Keenan.

Dynamo started to press, and when Robbins delivered from the left to his strike partner Demidh, a goal looked inevitable, but his shot lacked power and it rolled into the hands of Marske goalkeeper Robert Dean.

It ended goalless in a tense but even first half at Mount Pleasant.

Just 10 minutes after the break, Marske took the lead. Waters’ right footed shot towards goal was saved by Charlie Taylor, but he couldn’t keep the ball from flying into the net.

Three minutes later, the visitors responded and levelled. Robbins delightfully curled a left footed shot into the bottom corner past Dean for his 11th goal of the season.

The intensity had increased with both teams involved in tackles and exchanges in the game. Demidh was booked after a challenge on Liddle, then moments later Brockbank was given a yellow card for a tackle on Demidh.

Dynamo had still the momentum and took the lead 19 minutes from time. Demidh latched onto a through ball and he fired a shot in off the post to send the travelling fans into delirium.

As Marske pressed for an equaliser it left spaces at the back. Robbins ran through on goal but his last touch was too heavy and the ball rolled out for a goal-kick.

Just a minute from time, the hosts went down to 10 men. Liddle’s late challenge sent Alex Steadman over and the referee gave the midfielder a red card for his troubles.

Marske had chances to grab an equaliser but they failed to do so, as the referee blew his whistle to a thoroughly entertaining game at Mount Pleasant and the three points see Dynamo climb up to fifth place in the league.

Dynamo manager Lee Attenborough said that he was really happy with his side’s victory.

“I thought first half we were by far the better side, if we had a bit more composure in the first half, then we could have been a goal or two up.

“I just said to the boys keep going. We did it the hard way again, going a goal down but we stuck to our guns and we deserved to win.”
