Sugarman steps down as Foxes manager
IT’S a new era at Loughborough Foxes as first team manager Jenny Sugarman ended her stint in the hot seat with a victory in the third round of the Women’s FA Cup.
Sugarman, who had been manager of the Foxes since July 2015 is stepping down for personal reasons and will be replaced by assistant manager Issy Martin who will take charge of the team as manager for the first time on Sunday for the side’s league clash at QPR.
The Loughborough Foxes director of football Steve Wilkinson paid tribute to the work of Sugarman at the club since she arrived and said the appointment of Martin was a testament to the club’s desire for continuity.
“Jenny’s spell as manager included two County Cup trophies and promotion to the Southern National League.
“She will be missed greatly by the players and staff, her work and commitment has been invaluable.
“Issy joined us when we set up our new development team in 2016. She managed the development team for two seasons before coming into assist Jen at the start of this season.
“The club is delighted that we have the structures and opportunity to appoint from within and maintain continuity.
“The club continues to be very supportive towards the development of young coaches and Issy is just about to complete her UEFA B alongside her new role as head coach of Loughborough Foxes.”
