A CROWDFUNDING campaign has been launched by a local firm which wants to improve public safety - by using drone surveillance and delivery services.

Sam Shaw, managing director of UK Drone Store Ltd based in Burton on the Wolds, launched UK Drone Security six months ago to initially provide aerial surveillance for outdoor event organisers. But now he is looking at expanding to tackle threats like terrorism.

He said the firm has had interest from governments, the Ministry of Defence, emergency services and the private sector.

He said: “We are now seeking investment to further develop these services to combat crime and the increasing threat from terrorism.

“Apart from national security threats we have also been approached by the NHS to supply drones that will carry and drop defibrillators and medical packs to emergency scenes. Our drones can easily reach an emergency scene 10 times faster than any vehicle. We can save so many lives once we have these units available. This is the future.”

The crowdfunding campaign is to raise funds for investing in state-ofthe-art drone technology systems, hybrid long distance drone products and accessories.

The company is aiming to raise £100,000 within the next three months.

Mr Shaw said: “With the extra support from the public we will be able to assist the UK security services to increase efficiency, making it a safer place to live.

“With state-of-the-art technology sourced from around the globe, we can develop the industry further to achieve amazing results.

“With your support we can make a big difference to public safety, we are all living in fear of the next terrorist attack. With the increased demand on our NHS and the rise in traffic congestion we can reach people in need of urgent care faster than the current transportation methods.

“We would very much appreciate any financial assistance you can offer to help us to reach our goals.”
