Sileby man jailed over sex offences

-

A MAN from Sileby has been jailed after being found guilty of a number of non-recent child sex offences.

Colin Jackson, 57, appeared at Leicester Crown Court and was jailed for eight years and eight months on Thursday, January 10, following a trial at Leicester Crown Court.

Jackson, of Barradale Avenue, Sileby, was found guilty of six counts of indecent assault, three counts of indecency with a child and two counts of sexual assault.

He also pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images at an earlier court hearing. All offences were committed between 2000 and 2008.

Jackson began abusing his young victim when she was just 12 years old, taking indecent photos of her and downloading thousands of others from the internet.

They were stored on hard drives and protected by passwords.

Detective Constable Rachel Donaghey, the investigating officer, said: “During the years of abuse, Jackson isolated his victim, making sure she was alone so that he could take advantage of her.

“He protected his computer, where he’d stored thousands of indecent images, with passwords in the hope that he’d never be caught and that his victim would never have the courage to contact police.

“But she has showed great courage in disclosing the years of abuse, which continued through her teenage years, only stopping when she was 20.”
