Loughborough 2nd XV turn on the style in big win
LOUGHBOROUGH 2ND XV 68 MARKET RASEN 2XV 5 LOUGHBOROUGH 2nd XV produced a display of the highest quality on Saturday to put the visiting side to the proverbial sword.
Loughborough enjoyed near total dominance in the scrum all game and after some sustained pressure from said scrum it was left to Lorenzo Tonari put Caleb Hughes in the corner, graciously passing on the chance to score himself as he had already crossed the whitewash before offloading with George Hincks converting the try ot make it 7-0.
The home side’s second try came from a superb piece of backs play running through almost everyones hands before Kenny Baughan was put clear to score in the corner. The only blemish of the day for the hosts was they then allowed the visitors to score themselves to reduce the arrears to 14-5.
From this moment on the home side had full control of the game and continued to play structured but a quick tempo brand of rugby resulting in a further two scores before half time to make it 26-5.
The second half began with Boro immediately setting the tone for the rest of the match with some powerful carries from stalwart Graham Vaux and the evergreen Ian Jones to put them on the front foot. Further tries were scored by Roberts, Lee, Tonari and Smith - much was owed to the complete dominance of the forwards upfront which allowed the backs to play with confidence and freedom to express themselves.
Brilliantly lead again by the captain Víctor Lejona this was up there with the best performance of the season.
