Five star performance by Loughborough Town 2nd XI over Khalsa
LOUGHBOROUGH TOWN MEN’S 2ND XI 5 KHALSA MEN’S 2ND XI 0
HAVING had a disappointing weekend away at Leek, Town we’re looking to bounce back with good win against a fairly average Khalsa side.
With a couple of players returning to the team, Town were optimistic they could do some damage and rebuild their goal difference.
The match started off fairly slowly with neither team creating many chances.
However, after 10 minutes or so, Town started to play some good quick hockey, using triangles to cut the Khalsa mid and defence apart.
After some good work in and around the D, the ball fell to Harrow who had no trouble in dispatching the ball into the back of the net from a full yard out.
The rest of the first half carried on in a similar fashion with town continuing to play quick and decisive hockey.
Two more goals came from more good hockey, with another deflection from Harrow and very effective one touch shoot on the volley from Sibson, winding back the years.
The second half saw more of town attacking and breaking down the Khalsa defence, while not letting the opposition get into the D once in entire match thanks to a superb performance from the agile partnership of Otter and Shepherd.
Two more goals came in the second half, both from deflections, both from Harrow, clearly intent on stealing all the limelight this week.
The match ended 5-0, a very good performance from the entire Town team and a great response from last week.
Hopefully Town will be able to continue this form till the end of the season with some big matches coming up.
