TOTAL MOTION MIDLAND FOOTBALL LEAGUE ROMULUS 1 SHEPSHED DYNAMO 0

SHEPSHED’S winless run in 2019 continuesd as they travelled to play 17th Placed Romulus FC on their plastic pitch the game started off in freezing conditions and returned empty handed.

The first real chance of the game came from Romulus when in the ninth minute Ethan Dunkley shot from the edge of the area the ball hitting the post and going out for a goal kick.

Shepshed had to wait until the 28th minute for their first chance when Pearson Mwanyongo had a shot but it was easily saved by Romulus keeper Reiss Wagstaff, then a minute later Niall Prendiville had a shot but it was off target. Shepshed were in control and had another great chance when this time Liam Hursts shot flashed by the post.

Romulus finished the half the stronger when they had two further shots on goal one from Phil McKerdy and the second from Max Loveridge but they did not bother Brandon Ganley in the Shepshed goal.

The second half started well for Shepshed when Jake Betts had a shot that was inches away after that the game became a little dull as both sides cancelled each other out as both teams defences did their job and there was not much action in the game until the 82nd minute when Jonathan Haynes had a shot that was well saved by Ganley.

Shepshed then had another shot, this time it was Chris Acott’s turn but it summed up Shepshed’s day as the ball went well wide.

Time was running out and as a draw looked on the cards but with five minutes added time, Romulus finally got the break through when in the 91st minute Jonathan Haynes let rip from 30 yards and smashed the ball into the top corner of the net past Ganley who had no chance.

Shepshed needed to do something quickly

but it was to no avail as the referee blew the final whistle to wild celebrations from the Romulus players and fans.

This was a bad day for a Shepshed who since the Hebburn game have not been the same team they still sit fifth in the league but they need a massive improvement in form if they want to have a say in the title race as they have some tough games against teams in the top seven to contend with in the coming weeks.
