Health check led Jaimie to turn her life around

-

QUORN’S Jaimie Ball has added her voice to a health and fitness campaign telling the story of how she turned her life around.

As she reached 40, the former Rawlins Academy teacher went to see her doctor for a health check and says she had a wake-up call when the doctor told her she was at risk of high blood pressure, which runs in her family, and potentially at risk of developing diabetes.

Jaimie decided the time was right to make some changes.

She changed her eating habits, adopting a healthy diet, and started using the treadmill at Soar Valley Leisure Centre.

Initially she was walking and then she started running. In just over a year she lost an incredible five stone in weight and was able to run 10k, something she had never been able to do before.

Her blood pressure had also returned to a healthy range.

Determined to maintain her healthy lifestyle, Jaimie decided not to return to teaching and instead started training to be a personal trainer to help other women overcome their barriers to becoming fit and healthy.

Jaimie has now completed her level one and level two training and continues to work out at Soar Valley. The team there are even supporting her by letting her complete training videos there as part of her course.

She turned 45 recently and says she can confidently say she is now the fittest she has ever been.

Jaimie is sharing her story as part of Fusion’s ‘Rethink, Refresh, Restart’ campaign encouraging people to reboot their fitness in 2019.
