Bottom Railway BA maintain 100 per cent record with narrow 5-4 victory over title challenger­s

BOTTOM Railway BA maintained their 100 per cent record with a close 5-4 win against the Royal Oak Shooters in the top of the table clash in Blue Ball Division One of the Loughborou­gh and District Pubs & Clubs Darts League last week.

Andy Hibbert hit his fourth and Chris Peat his second maximum of the season for the Railway as they open up a 10 point lead at the top of the division. Royal Oak DP move up to second place after they beat the Bull and Bush Lions 7-2 for whom Tony Spencer also hit his fourth maximum of the season. The other three games in the division all finished with close 5-4 wins as the Three Crowns Spookies beat Spot On MP, the Spot On Waifs and Strays beat Champs AW, and Barrow Cons Wagg’s Gang beat the Bull and Bush B.

In Wanty’s Division Two leaders Royal Oak Bluemoon Foxes beat Crown Court 5-4 with Wayne Martin hitting a maximum for ‘the Court’. Second place Spot On Reds beat the Bell Foundry Blue Army by the same score, and third place Blacksmith­s Exiles won 6-3 against the Tap and Mallet JB despite Steve Bostock hitting his third maximum of the season for ‘the Tap’.

In S H Cox Division Three leaders Crown Rejects and second place Three Nuns Albion both won 5-4 against the Three Nuns Right Footers and the Bull and Bush Laughing Boys respective­ly, and Michael Sciepanow hit his third maximum of the season for the Spot On Guy ‘n’ Gals as they beat the Bell Foundry Mandem 5-4. Michael and Steve Bostock now join Ryan Thacker in the lead for the most maximums in the season trophy awarded for division two to five players.

In Generous Briton Division Four leaders Black Swan BWA returned to winning ways with a 7-2 win against the Anchor, Hathern and the Royal Oak Old Uns leapfrog the Plough B in to second place after their 6-3 win against them.

Finally in Jim Kidger Division Five the Rose and Crown Rockets have withdrawn from the division so points will be adjusted for those teams that have played them in the second half of the season. As a result the Blacksmith­s Hammers now lead the division after their 6-3 win against the Bottom Railway CS with the White Hart Stags in second place and Blue Ball JLA in third.
