Teamwork to create recyclable cups

-

BAKERY Bom Bom Patisserie has teamed up with Pickle Illustration, a company headed by a Loughborough University student and alumna duo, to create recyclable takeaway cups that encapsulate the café’s community spirit.

Bom Bom Patisserie was founded by alumna Dr Marta Oliveira Child who graduated from Loughborough in 2012 with a degree in sport, exercise and health sciences.

The bakery, founded in 2012, is widely popular among Loughborough residents, students and staff. In May, the bakery won a Best Cafe Award.

Pickle Illustration was founded recently by student Lauren Jefferis and alumna Olivia Collins. The pair aim to offer creative solutions to businesses through bespoke illustrations.

The design of the cups is based on ‘a community spirit that can enact change’, featuring illustrations of customers enjoying the café, sat down or on-the-go, and even includes one in the university-style sporting clothing.

The cups also aim to be more environmentally friendly, with Pickle Illustration stating: “We think it’s great that the cups are more environmentally sustainable which is something we definitely support and hope that this will encourage more cafes in the area to do so.”

Lauren has also worked with the university’s creative and print services to create a print illustration for sale, embodying the quirks of life at Loughborough University.

The print includes Loughborough favourites such as Charlie the Cat and the famous Loughborough hoodies as well as landmarks such as the Carillon Tower and Hazlerigg Hall.
