101 things you never knew...

-

IF YOU are retired or semi retired Loughborough U3A might be for you, especially if you are looking for new interest/hobbies, or you are keen to meet new friends.

We meet once a month at The United Reformed Church, Frederick Street, Loughborough LE11 3BH

The next meeting will be held on September 18, at 2pm.

The speaker at that meeting is Chris Ward, his topic, 101 Things you never knew about garden birds.

Apart from the monthly meetings, there are approximately 26 groups to choose from you can join, maybe learn a new hobby.

There are day trips, longer five day trips full of interest. Nice hotels to stay at and trips daily to places of interest.

We are an extremely friendly group and new members are made most welcome.

August has been a busy month the speaker at the last meeting on 21st August was Bill Wells a retired fire officer, he had been in the brigade for 30 years.

He spoke on fire safety in the home, was funny and very thought provoking .

I certainly close all my doors before going to bed now, fire alarms checked, and purchased a new fire blanket.

He also advised taking a phone to bed with you especially if you live alone.

A group of us went to Aston Pottery which is a multi award winning pottery, gift shop, café and gardens in the quiet Cotswold village of Aston.

A really interesting day, the owner was an inspiration from making the scones each morning for the café, designing and working on the beautiful gardens, also working in the pottery.

In September a group are going for five days to Kent and East Sussex, a very full programme of visits to castles, Chatham dockyard and much more.

If you think this is for you please come to see what we are all about on September 18, you will be most welcome.
