Loughborough Dynamo ‘a lot more resilient’

EMIRATES FA CUP FIRST

QUALIFYING ROUND LOUGHBOROUGH DYNAMO 1

HEATHER ST JOHNS 0 LOUGHBOROUGH Dynamo assistant manager Brad Munn believes that his side are starting to become ‘more resilient’ after they recorded a 1-0 victory over Heather St Johns at the ADT Stadium on Saturday.

Carl Sibson’s first-half strike proved the difference between the two teams in a hard-fought encounter as Dynamo progress to the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Cup.

Munn insists that there is more to come from Dynamo despite there being many positives from his team.

“It’s nice to be in the hat for the next round,” the 26-year-old said.

“Everyone loves the FA Cup. I think for me, the last two games, I know they’re both FA Cup but two clean sheets.

“Both one-nil wins without us playing at our most attacking best. So the positives for me is we can have a look at this game.

“We can have a look at the previous game and we are starting to be a lot more resilient. But yet still a lot more to give.

“So the positives is that we’re shutting up shop a bit more and a bit better. But at the same time, there’s a lot more to come from us.”

After recording back to back clean sheets for the first time in over a year, Munn praised the performance of goalkeeper Jay Alexander.

“If you look at most of our home games – they’re full of goals – and a lot of them as well. Normally for both sides. So it’s nice the fact that we are starting to be a bit more resilient.

“Thought Jay, the ‘keeper, was different class from corners and crosses. Takes the pressure off, it always helps. But the good thing for me is that we’ve got plenty more to come in my opinion so happy with the way we’re doing things.”

• Loughborough Dynamo will take on Tamworth in the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Cup with a date for the fixture to be confirmed in due course. Dynamo face the BetVictor Southern Premier League Central outfit in an attempt to reach the furthest stage of this competition in their 64-year history.

Their opponents have had a mixed start to the campaign, winning three of their six league fixtures, but beat Nuneaton Borough to reach this round of the FA Cup.

The tie is to take place over the weekend of September 20-22, and therefore Dynamo’s league game against Wisbech Town will be rearranged.
