New lip reading classes planned this year

-

CAN you hear me at the back?

Especially at this time of year, there are plenty of opportunities for us to meet others and share fun and laughter.

But this modern world seems to live in an environment that moves faster, for longer, and much louder than before.

For the 12 million people across the UK living with hearing loss or deafness life can present never-ending challenges.

Simon was one of those people who had to give up teaching young people the languages he loved due to his hearing loss. He withdrew from friends and family. #

But with the help of lipreading classes Simon met lots of like-minded people who had the same struggles and who understood the challenges of coping in a busy, often noisy, sometimes unsympathetic world.

In addition, he found the classes fun. With his new-found skill in lipreading, although still finding it tough at times, Simon has discovered ways of managing his condition with more confidence. These days he looks forward to sharing the good times with friends and family.

The Leslie Edwards Trust has been working in the local area for several years, bringing Lipreading and Managing Your Hearing Loss classes to the local community.

With increasing demand, the Trust is planning a new class in Loughborough from the New Year.
