Seasonal treats enjoyed by the children at Steps...
CHILDREN and families who attend the Shepshed based charity Steps were lucky enough to enjoy a number of festive treats including a trip to the theatre, a boat trip and a special Christmas party.
First there were two trips to the Curve Theatre in Leicester to see The Gruffalo and Giraffes Don’t Dance. Next was a Christmas Party with entertainment from Mr Twister, plenty of party food and of course, presents from Santa.
The week was rounded off with a boat trip and another opportunity to meet Santa!
Centre Manager, Janet Russell said: “We are so grateful to everyone who helped to pay for all of these treats, not just for the Steps children, but also for their families.
“Special thanks go to Gemma and Jess from Freeth’s Solicitors who provided 40 selection boxes and Carol at B&M in Loughborough who sent 40 boxes of Maltesers. Cath Chell of Learn Well donated presents and other people who wish to remain anonymous paid for the party food. We were thrilled to be able to offer these special treats as a result of the kind generosity of others.
“Steps is a self-funding charity with running costs of just under £5,000 per week, that provides a vital service for children with motor delays, Down’s syndrome and cerebral palsy.
“Treats such as those that we have been able to give to our children and their siblings, families and carers, are a direct result of the kindness and generosity of others and help us all to remember that Christmas is about giving, sharing and supporting.”
