Deposit on beer glasses at The Druid’s

-

CUSTOMERS at The Druid’s Arms in Pinfold Gate Loughborough were having to pay a deposit on the their beer glasses because so many had been broken or stolen in recent months.

Landlord Jack Bowley brought in the idea on Christmas Day.

He told the Echo: “Something had to be done.” He said that during December he had spent £44 on replacing glasses. The average for a pub about the same size was a £5 a month.

Customers at the discotheque and public bar now had to pay two shillings deposit on their glass.

Mr Bowley added: “We find that customers now keep their glasses all night. They refill them rather than leave them on the table and getting a clean glass for their next drink.”
