Old hand-drawn hearse discovered

A COUNCIL worker made a remarkable discovery during a visit to Thurcaston Cemetery.

Mr Varney, of Barrow-upon-Soar Rural Council’s engineer’s and surveyor’s department, discovered a hand-drawn hearse, which had been locked away for some considerable time.

Mr Varney restored the hearse and now it was being handed over the Leicester City Council on permanent loan for display in the Museum and Art Gallery.
