New restaurant cafe plan passed

-

AN APPLICATION for a new town centre first floor restaurant/cafe in the Market Place, above the row of Imperial Building shops including the Savers store, has been granted.

Charnwood Borough Council planning officers gave the permission using delegated powers for the plan.

The entrance to the new venture will be on the corner of the building complex, the former entrance to Super Tan centre, between the old Burton’s store and Savers.

The application, by Mr Montree Saesue, was for a change of use of former tanning shop to restaurant/cafe and installation of external extraction flue.

A statement, along with the application submitted to Charnwood Borough Council, stated: “The first floor to 18-22 Market Place, Loughborough lies within the Loughborough Church Gate conservation area.

“It is currently vacant, having formerly been a tanning shop. The planning application includes a change of use application to a restaurant.

“Internally, some of the existing metal stud walls will be removed to create a larger open plan space to support the restaurant’s seating, overlooking the Market Place.

“The existing staircase will remain as a means of access to the first floor. Parking is not relevant to the proposal, as it is situated on a pedestrianised street.

“Approval of this application will bring a currently unoccupied first floor space into use, supporting the development use and sustainability of this town centre location.”
