Man and woman charged with assaulting police officers at crash scene
A MAN and a woman have been charged with assaulting two Midlands police officers at the scene of a car crash.
Nottinghamshire Police said its officers had responded to reports of a car hitting a lamppost in the village of East Leake at about 12.10am on Monday, December 30, when the incident happened.
As two officers attempted to arrest the driver on suspicion of drinkdriving, one was allegedly punched in the chest by a woman who had intervened.
The other officer suffered a deep cut on the hand while arresting the driver.
Carl Peacock, 50, of Oak Crescent, East Leake, has since been charged with drink driving, failing to provide a specimen for analysis and assault with intent to resist arrest.
He was bailed to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on March 3.
Luminita Testatonda, 40, of Little Moor Lane, Loughborough, has been charged with assaulting an emergency worker and obstructing a police officer.
A spokesperson for the force said: “While our officers were arresting the driver - on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink - one was punched in the chest by a woman who had intervened. Our other officer sustained a deep cut to their hand while arresting the driver.”
She was bailed to appear at the same magistrates’ court on February 18.
