NATURE RESERVE WORK PROGRAMME. The need for an organised plan of proposals for a programme of work at Sutton Bonington’s Spinney and Meadows Nature Reserve is being looked at by the parish council.

The Reserve is a four hectare site containing grassland, woodland, a dyke and a pond. Ridge and furrow patterns can be seen in the meadow and the site is adjacent to the River Soar.

Coun. David Betts told a recent meeting of the parish council that he felt currently there was no need for any work to be carried out at the Reserve, but did say the area is very boggy, said not to be a surprise because of the recent consistent heavy falls of rain.

The parish council is to contact Notts County Council wildlife section and also to ask the local Tree Warden to have a look at the area and draft a proposal of works for it.

COUNCIL TAX PRECEPT.

Sutton Bonington parish council are calling for a council tax precept income of £28,500 for the coming 2020 /2021 financial year starting on April 1, an increase of £2,699 on the current year’ Mrs Jenny Faulks figure.

In both 2018 / 2019 and 2019 / 2020 the council sought the same precept figure, £25,801. The figure in the current financial year was left the same as for 2018 / 2019 because of difficulties created by the sudden death of the then clerk, Mrs Jenny Faulks and the availability of some of the financial papers required to produce the necessary figures.
