TALK@SILEBY VILLAGE MAGAZINE: It is with much regret that after 50 editions, we bid farewell to the Village Magazine.

Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances for committee members, a shortage of deliverers , and increased costs in producing the magazine these factors had a huge impact.

Despite an appeal in issue 50 for help, none was forthcoming. Sadly this meant that it was no longer practically possible for the remaining committee members to fulfil all that was needed to produce, and distribute further editions.

The funds that were remaining, and in agreement with Sileby Parish Council, have been shared between Sileby Scouts, Sileby Guides and Sileby Youth Project.

It would be difficult to give individual thanks, but the committee would like to thank sincerely, all who helped in getting the magazine up and running, past committee members, deliverers, advertisers and all those who contributed over the years to the magazine.

SILEBY METHODIST CHURCH. We had a lovely Covenant Service with Rev John Pugh on Sunday, January 19.

On Sunday, 26th, at 10.30am we had a special service for the Holocaust Memorial Sunday. Eleri Bristow, our preacher, put together a memorable service which remembered the victims of the WW2 and the subsequent genocide victims since that terrible time. Won’t mankind ever learn!

Terry played the piano for us and we do thank both of them and Valerie for this special service.

Next Sunday, February 2, Granville Mercy is our preacher and we look forward to hearing his message.

During the week we held Cafe@Chapel on Thursday and Saturday, 23/25th January, from 9.30-11.00am. We are so grateful for the support shown by our loyal friends who come along and support us.

During February we have two events planned. The first is an Indoor Car Boot Sale on Saturday, 15th from 10am - 2pm. If you would care to have a table then please phone Dave on 07706 205070and he will be pleased to assist you. Refreshments will be served during this time.

On Tuesday, 25th February, it is our Pancake Lunch from 12.30pm - 2pm.

Tickets are £5 each and will be available from Cafe@ Chapel or Betty Bowman and Brenda Bryan. We do hope you will come along as we have a lovelyely time.
