A TOTAL of 3,958 adults and 1,753 children visited Loughborou­gh’s war memorial Carillon during the period from January to September 1969, according to a report by the parks superinten­dent, Mr T S Stapleford.

He also reported that out of the borough’s 556 allotment plots, 496 had tenants. More than half the 87 untenanted plots were on the Mountfield­s site.

He also gave figures for the Derby Road playing fields where there was 333 games of soccer, 52 hockey, 14 rugby and 88 cricket.
