Choral concert at village church

A CHORAL concert is taking place at Ratby Parish Church on Friday, January 31, and Saturday, February 1.

The concert will feature music by two great contemporary British composers, Bob Chilcott and Karl Jenkins. It will be sung by Newtown Linford Choral Society, with guest professional Soprano soloist Bethan Williams, and an orchestra.

One of the pieces will be Bob Chilcott’s ‘The Little Jazz Mass’, which was originally composed for a choral festival in New Orleans. It successfully brings together two musical traditions—the Latin Mass and Jazz.

The piece composed by Karl Jenkins will be ‘Stabat Mater.’ Karl Jenkins is an accomplished musician and composer, with a background in jazz and rock music as well as classical choral works.
