MICROSOFT TAKES THINGS TO THE EDGE

MICROSOFT has officially launched its next-generation web browser.

It’s been in the works for a long time – Microsoft released the first version of Edge in 2015 when it conceded that its once-ubiquitous Internet Explorer had lost the browser war to Google’s Chrome.

Last year Microsoft revealed its intention to rebuild the software using a different engine under the hood – the very same Chromium technology that is the power behind Google’s Chrome.

So Edge is very similar to Chrome in many ways, but also includes an automatic “Internet Explorer” mode, which Microsoft hopes will entice corporate users to switch.

A few features differ, most notably Edge includes built-in privacy setting to help you control how you are tracked online.

The browser is available for the first time on all platforms – Windows, macOS, Android and iOS.

STILL NO OPTION TO EDIT TWEETS

SO NOW we know, Twitter will never build one of the most requested features into its service – the ability to edit tweets... well it probably won’t.

Speaking at a

Q&A session with Wired magazine, Twitter’s co-founder and current CEO Jack Dorsey, above, said not allowing users to edit Tweets after they had been sent meant the platform was staying true to its roots.

“We started as an SMS, text message service,” he said. “And as you all know, when you send a text, you can’t really take it back. We wanted to preserve that vibe, that feeling, in the early days.”

Jack went on to say the company would “probably never do it”, so it’s not completely out of the question, but don’t hold your breath.
