NORFOLK UNITED 50 CHARNWOOD Rutland Warriors hosted Norfolk United on Sunday and were aiming to get back on track after defeat to Exeter in their last outing.
The faith shown by Head Coach Sam Griffin in her young players paid off as they earned am impressive 75-50 victory.
Norfolk started sharply and took an early lead, Warriors immediately made a change with youngster Jaz Brown going on to GK to put more pressure on Norfolk’s tall Goal Shooter.
The change paid off with Warriors pulling it back to end the quarter level at 19-19.
With Griffin giving some clear directions at quarter time and adding Lucy Alexandar to the mid court with Georgie Brock-Taylor shining Warriors took hold of the game. With the defence working tirelessly and Corey McGlynn making clean turnovers Warriors had an outstanding quarter to stretch away from Norfolk and end the first half 40-27 ahead.
The young line up remained the same in the third quarter with Rachel Duckers and Amy Braithwaite remaining confident and consistent in the shooting end whilst Abi Hymas and Jaz Brown continue to add pressure the other end and ear turnovers for their team. After another impressive quarter Warriors ran into the final 15 minutes with a comfortable lead 59-37 lead and Norfolk United unable to find the answers.
Jaydene Robinson re-entered the court with Mel Oakman and Katie Welsh to add fresh legs and allow Warriors to keep the pace of the game high and to further pull awa y.
As the final whistle blew Warriros recorded a great win of 76-50 to remain top of the table as they aim for promotion to National Premier League Division Two.
