Normanton on Soar

SIX NATIONS RUGBY. We will be showing all the England matches in the 6 Nations Rugby at the Normanton on Soar village hall on the following dates :

• Saturday, 8th February, Scotland v England 4.45 pm

• Sunday, 23rd February, England v Ireland 3pm

• Saturday, 7th March, England v Wales 4.45pm

• Saturday, 14th March, Italy v England 4.45pm

LADIES WALKING GROUP. Normanton on Soar Ladies Walking Group will be meeting on the mornings of 10th February for a four a half mile stroll around Dishley Pool. The group meet beforehand at a location near Normanton for car sharing or you can meet the group at the starting point. HEARING AID CLINICS. The free Hearing Aid Clinics run by Laura Ainsworth from The Ear Foundation continue on the second Tuesday of the month in Normanton Village Hall between 2pm and 3pm. The next clinic will be Tuesday, 11th February.

COMMUNITY SHOP. The Normanton-on-Soar store is a small, well-stocked shop run by a group of volunteers, many of whom are not village residents but who offer their invaluable help.

ST JAMES CHURCH – COTTON BAGS AND TEA TOWELS. Some cotton bags and tea towels have been made, using a new church logo designed by Simon Barrington.

These items could make ideal Christmas presents! They are available at the back of the church – the cotton bags are £5 each and the tea towels £3 each.

BURNS NIGHT. Many thanks to all those who supported the Burns Night at Brian and Sue Archbold’s home.

With cash donations and donations of food and drink, including GiftAid, we raised the magnificent sum of £875 for the St. James Church Refurbishment Appeal.

We have also received an anonymous GiftAided donation of £1,000 so the first improvement you will notice will be the new curtains in the church which will be installed very soon.
