Multiple success for Loughborough College athletes
LOUGHBOROUGH College is celebrating student and staff success at the British Athletics Indoor Championships, the England Athletics Indoor Age Group Championships and the National Cross Country Championships.
At the British Athletics Indoor Championships Keely Hodgkinson won gold in the women’s 800m in Glasgow and Amy Hunt became 60m champion on her senior women’s debut.
Kate Rooney, from the College’s Elite sport staff team, coached all three athletes who took the top spots in the women’s pole vault, including former College student Sophie Cook in 1st and Kate’s Loughborough College elite sport team colleague Courtney MacGuire, who came third.
George Mills was 1st in the Men’s 1500m while fellow Loughborough College alumni Yasmin Miller took 1st in the women’s 60m hurdles.Tom Gale secured first in the men’s high jump and Adam Hague and Ethan Walsh respectively first and second in the men’s pole vault.
At the England Athletics Indoor Age Group Championships in Sheffield, Loughborough College student Hannah
Moat became U20 women’s high jump champion and fellow College student Sophie Ashurst took gold in the U20 women’s pole vault. Classmate Abi Pawlett meanwhile won both the U20 60m hurdles and the long jump, Tom Wilcock took 2nd in the 60m and alumnus Dan Maud was 2nd in the 800m. Loughborough College sport student Acacia Williams took 3rd in the 200m.
At the National Cross Country championships Loughborough College sport student Maya Todd McIntyre rounded off the golden weekend with the under 17 women’s top spot.
