MOUNTSORREL-BASED Danaher & Walsh has announced the results of a year of fund-raising on behalf of charity Alex’s Wish.

Dan Danaher, managing director of Danaher & Walsh, said: “Danaher & Walsh chose Alex’s Wish as our Charity of the Year this time last year and we are thrilled to have just donated £5,000 to them.

“The money was raised by staff who organised a series of events throughout the year including a 50th birthday celebration for our company which was held at Leicester Race Course, and various sweepstakes and competitions in our office. We also ran a Christmas raffle for the charity too.

“We’re also delighted to be members of the Alex’s Wish Business Club so we’ll continue to donate and be an active part of this charity, which is very close to all our hearts, for many more months and years to come.”

Founder of Mountsorrel-based Alex’s Wish, Emma Hallam, who is also mum to Alex after whom the charity is named said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have received this incredibly generous donation and at such a critical time for any charity.

“I know that Danaher & Walsh had a number of other events planned for the last three months but due to COVID-19 these couldn’t go ahead of course. Instead Danaher & Walsh very kindly rounded up what they had already raised and made a donation of £5,000 to Alex’s Wish.

“It’s an amazing amount of money to receive – especially during these times – and we cannot thank them enough. The funds will be earmarked for future investments to help us find effective treatments and – ultimately – a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a horrific, life-limiting condition suffered by 1 in every 3,500 boys born in the UK.”
