Pedal power sees Amy net £1,965 for care home
Staff and residents gathered to welcome her back
PEDAL power has seen a Shepshed care worker raise £1,945 for residents at the home she works at!
Amy Bond embarked on a 100 mile bike ride over three days around Leicestershire and Derbyshire to raise money for the activities fund at the Marwood Residential Home in Shepshed.
Her initial target was to raise £500 and within a matter of days that total was surpassed and then the £1,000 and £1,500 milestones were also surpassed.
Hannah Henshaw, the manager at Marwood Residential Home said everyone at the home was very proud of Amy’s achievements.
“Accompanied by her husband, Paul, for support, Amy exceeded 100 miles over the three days. She arrived back at Marwood in spectacular fashion to a hero’s welcome.
“The staff and residents were all gathered on the driveway, socially distanced of course, and we were joined by local entertainer Rovin’ Ron who performed a tribute to Amy and kindly donated his fee to the fundraiser.
“We organised a celebration which was supported by local company Perfecto Pizza who gave us complementary pizzas and Colin the Ice Cream man who parked at the top of the driveway to hand out free ice creams. We are eternally grateful for the generosity of those that have donated and the community spirit of local companies.
“In total, the Gofundme page and cash donations raised a massive £1945! For saying the starting target was £500, we’re amazed by the total raised.
“These funds will be instrumental in enhancing the wellbeing of our much loved residents who have been isolating for so long by way of providing stimulating activities within and hopefully someday soon, outside of the home too.”
