A celebration of those who make other lives better on daily basis
Care Professional of the Year Awards have been launched
FOR nine years, the website which hosts Loughborough Echo news, LeicestershireLive, has been celebrating the skilled, dedicated care professionals who help better the lives of others across the region – and this year is no different.
Those who have gone above and beyond to support others will be recognised in the LeicestershireLive Care Professional of the Year Awards, and we are asking you to nominate someone who should be celebrated for their remarkable work.
Categories this year include the Dementia Care Professional of the Year, Best Newcomer to Care, Supporting Independence and Palliative Carer of the Year, among others (see the full list in the panel on the right).
Inspired to Care and Leicestershire County Council is this year’s headline sponsor.
Sandy McMillan, assistant director of the council’s Adults and Communities department, says they are proud to be championing the inspirational care professionals in the region.
“We aim to change perceptions of the social care sector to show that care and support professionals are a skilled and dedicated workforce,” said Sandy.
“That is why we have worked together with LeicestershireLive to change the title of these awards to recognise the professionals they are.
“Never more so than in 2020 has the workforce demonstrated resilience and devotion to the people they support and we at Inspired to Care and Leicestershire County Council are proud of all their heroic efforts keeping people safe and well.
“This will be our third year as the headline sponsor for these awards. We believe that our care workforce should be recognised and rewarded for all the hard work they do, supporting people in Leicestershire every single day.”
Nominations for the awards are now open and you have until Monday, January 4 to nominate an inspirational care professional.
Whether you have received fantastic care from an exceptional person, or you work alongside one, your nominations matter.
Three finalists will be shortlisted within each category by a judging panel, with the winners announced at a virtual ceremony, to be streamed on LeicestershireLive on Thursday, January 28.
The live event, which is scheduled to take place at 7pm, will feature special guests and prize giveaways.
“Although coronavirus isn’t letting us celebrate these awards face to face this year, it will be available, free of charge, virtually via a live stream,” Sandy added.
“This means the awards ceremony will be accessible to more people than ever, so you can celebrate whether you are a social care employer, employee or are someone who receives support.”
