Three leisure centres in the borough are back up and running

-

A NUMBER of leisure centres have reopened following the end of the second national lockdown last week.

Fusion Lifestyle and Charnwood Borough Council said Loughborough Leisure Centre, Soar Valley Leisure Centre and South Charnwood Leisure Centre were now open again, alongside the online classes available through the Fusion at Home service.

Charnwood is under Tier 3 restrictions and the centres will be operating under new government guidelines.

A spokesperson said: “The gyms and swimming pools at our centres will be open but indoor group exercise and indoor sport will not be permitted under Tier 3 guidelines and guidance from each sport’s national governing body.”

Fusion will continue to offer a wide range of online classes, for all abilities, through Fusion at Home and via Fusion Lifestyle’s YouTube page. Outdoor group exercise is also launching shortly.

All outdoor sports, junior activities for under 18s, and activities for those with disabilities are unaffected.

The centres will continue to operate in line with government safety guidelines and those planning to visit will be required to book and pay online, minimising contact required at the centre and allowing for the track and trace process to be implemented.

Gym users will be asked to arrive ready to work out, and swimmers with their costumes under their clothes, ready to go.

These measures, combined with meticulous cleaning routines, are designed to keep customers safe and offer complete confidence to use the facilities and classes when they return to the centre.

Anthony Cawley, Director of Operations at Fusion said: “We can’t wait to welcome the community to enjoy keeping fit and healthy.

“Keeping active has never been more important and we are ready to open our doors.

“We are adding new classes to our Fusion at Home service all the time so there is plenty on offer for those unable to get to a centre to everyone can continue to enjoy their regular fitness fixes.

“We are also looking into organising some outdoor group exercise classes too and hope to be able to offer this soon.”

Cllr Leigh Harper-Davies, lead member for communities and equalities support said: “It’s excellent our leisure centres can open their doors once again, giving residents the opportunity to improve their physical and mental wellbeing.

“There continues to be measures in place across all three leisure centres to adhere to government guidance and I would urge people visiting the leisure centres to continue to follow these measures to help ensure everyone’s safety.

“I would like to thank residents for their ongoing support of our leisure centres and to the Fusion staff who have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure the centres are able to open under the tier 3 guidance.”

All three centres will be open daily, please refer to the individual centre’s websites for opening hours. Bookings can be made up to seven days in advance, via download of the Fusion Lifestyle app or visit www. fusion-lifestyle.com to register and use the booking facility.
