THREE Leicestershire nurses have taken part in a charity step count challenge, which saw them walk an extra 942,367 steps over 28 days, raising £1,184.

Stuart Kennedy and Rod Darby are Admiral Nurses in Charnwood, and were joined by Andrew Gallagher-Casals, the Admiral Nurse in South Blaby and Lutterworth.

The challenge represented one step for each of the reported 700,000 carers of people with dementia, and an extra 50,000 for the people who are expected to be supporting someone with the condition.

At the end of week two, they clocked up approximately 500,000 steps.

Stuart, Rod, and Andrew said: “People affected by dementia have been challenged by a decline in support services and isolation.
