Mayoress receives her Covid jab and praises the vaccination centre
THE Mayoress of Charnwood, Joan Snartt, has received her Covid-19 vaccination jab and with the Mayor, Councillor David Snartt, is encouraging people to have the jab when they are offered it.
They attended the vaccination centre at Thorpe Astley Surgery in Leicester and said the whole procedure was brilliantly run.
Coun Snartt said: “All the indications are that all the centres which borough residents are attending are professionally run, with all the Covid-19 restrictions in place to make everyone feel safe.
“I have received information from residents who have already had their vaccination, telling me how good their experience has been.
“I now have first-hand knowledge of how professional and welcoming these centres are.
“I did have the opportunity to thank staff for their kindness and willingness to help whilst we were going through the process.
“May I reassure everyone being invited to have a Covid-19 vaccination and say, please take up the offer. In my view, the more people who are vaccinated then the sooner there will be light at the end of a very dark tunnel and a way back to normality.
“Take care everyone and stay safe.”
It comes as Coun Deborah Taylor and Cllr Paul Baines, both ward members for Anstey, take part in a trial for another Covid-19 vaccine.
Coun Taylor said: “I received my first jab in December and I am also taking part in a subset trial of the effects as well.
“I decided to volunteer so we can get as many vaccines approved for use for the world so we can beat this virus and get back to hugging our family and friends – and colleagues!
“I have felt very safe throughout the process. I look forward to being able to tell future generations that I helped beat Covid19.”
Coun Baines said: “I decided to do it because we will need a range of vaccines that are best suited to each individual. The UK has a world-class pharmaceutical environment and I wanted to be part of the solution to ending the viral disease that is causing a catastrophic impact on our societies and economies worldwide.”
