VILLAGE HALL PLANS. Big improvements to the building and facilities are being planned now that Castle Donington Parish Council has taken over the lease of the local Village Hall

In September last year the local community made the decision to transfer the lease on the Village Hall back to the Parish Council, giving the council authority over the running of the hall and changing facilities.

The transfer document has now been signed and it includes an agreement by the Parish Council to ensue that the village hall part of the premises must remain as the Village Hall until at least 2060.

Mr. Robert Else, the Village Hall chairman said: ”The Village Hall Committee is really excited about this transfer, as we know that the Parish Council is going to invest a huge amount of develops’ money to totally refurbish the building together with extending the sports’ facilities. This will provide our village with the most up to date amenities in the area.”

He continued: ”In our opinion, the revitalisation of the village hall in conjunction with the other considerable building and refurbishment of public buildings in Castle Donington, will provide our community with the services it deserves.”

Mr. Else added: “Another good cause that will benefit from the transfer is the Volunteer Centre which will receive the balance of funds from the Village Hall charity which is now closing.”

Cllr. Colin Burton, chairman of Castle Donington Parish Council, said: ”When approached by the Village Hall Trustees and Committee with the transfer proposal, the Parish Council was fully in favour of the request and has worked hard to achieve this for the benefit of the community.”

He added: “The Parish Council has now agreed to fully refurbish and modernise the Village Hall to bring it up to current standards and safeguard this facility for future generations.”

The completion of the transfer of the lease took place at the start of February this year.
