Fraud police’s bid to find classic cars
ARRESTS ALL OVER COUNTY
POLICE have released images of classic cars they are trying to find as part of a major insurance fraud investigation.
So far, six warrants have been executed across Leicestershire since the investigation began in September 2020 and five arrests have been made for fraud representation.
There are now three classic cars that are yet to be found and police are asking the public to come forward with any information.
The outstanding cars are:
■ Blue Ford MK1 Granada series 1, XL model produced from 1973 to 1977, automatic five-door saloon, a full blue leather interior, AA badge in the front grill – very good condition.
■ 1960 Rover P5, manual, rear wheel drive, three litre engine size 2995, originally beige with a beige interior in poor condition, possibly restored now and grey in colour.
■ Blue Ford Granada Ghia, 1976 model, automatic four-door saloon, engine size 2994 – very poor condition.
Police began investigating car insurance fraud involving classic cars following the execution of a Misuse of Drugs Act warrant at Beveridge Lane, Coalville.
Officers recovered a fullyrestored blue Ford Granada, along with a large amount of cash and number plates connected to other insurance fraud.
Following this, six warrants were executed at properties across the county.
Warrants were executed at these locations:
■ Wigston Lane, Leicester
■ Prince Albert Drive, Leicester
■ Gallards Hill, Leicester
■ Klondyke Gardens, Groby
■ Beverdige Lane, Coalville
■ Lady Hay Road, Leicester The following arrests were made for fraud by false representation:
■ A 44-year-old man from Coalville;
■ A 20-year-old woman from Coalville;
■ A 35-year-old woman from Bagworth;
■ A 44-year-old man from Leicester;
■ A 34-year-old man from Leicester.
All those arrested were released under investigation while officers consult with the Crown Prosecution Service.
Detective Constable Natasha Perkins said: “This was a really good step for our investigations.
“We still have outstanding vehicles we are trying to locate and we asking anyone with any information that might help us find them to please get in touch.”
