Dynamo crash out of cup at the first hurdle

FA CUP PRELIMINARY ROUND CLEETHORPES 3 LOUGHBOROUGH DYNAMO 1

-

LOUGHBOROUGH Dynamo never really got going in this FA Cup Preliminary Round tie and were always trying to weather the Cleethorpes storm.

They were under pressure from the off with Cleethorpes Town having a lot of the possession and creating some early chances.

Dynamo’s biggest attacking threat early on was Tristan Matthews who had a couple of shots from long range for the keeper to deal with.

However, after half an hour Cleethorpes Town broke the deadlock through Alex Flett who picked up the rebound from a shot that was saved and smashed it into the roof of the net to make it 1-0

Seconds after the goal, Cleethorpes could have made it 2-0 but Richardson, who was through 1-on-1 hit the ball wide.

But just six minutes after going behind, Dynamo equalised through Ryan Nesbitt when he was played though into the box and hit a precise finish into the corner.

One of the biggest talking points of the game came after 38 minutes when Dynamo had to change their keeper after Jay Alexander went off with a neck injury and he was replaced by Ruben Rabstein.

The second half was a continuation of the first with Cleethorpes

having all the possession and all the chances.

The score line could have been worse had the Cleethorpes number 9 been more clinical as he again was put through and he went past the goalkeeper but couldn’t direct his shot on target.

Oli Donald then made it 2-1 to Cleethorpes after 68 minutes when he powered home a header from a corner.

And then Lennon Stead finished the scoring after 76 minutes when the ball found him on the left hand side of the box and his shot beat the goalkeeper.

Overall, it was an extremely disappointing day for Loughborough Dynamo who are still looking for their first win of the season in any competition.
