Dynamo fightback to share the spoils in a six goal epic

PITCHING IN NORTHERN PREMIER LEAGUE MIDLAND DIVISION LOUGHBOROUGH DYNAMO 3 SUTTON COLDFIELD TOWN 3

-

LOUGHBOROUGH Dynamo came from 3-0 down at half time to draw 3-3 at home against Sutton Coldfield Town in what will already go down as one of the games of the season.

Dynamo’s first home game of the season started off quietly with both teams finding their feet and getting used to passing the ball around on what was a wet surface at times.

Chances were few and far between for the first half an hour with both teams having a headed effort from their number 9 just miss the target.

However, after 30 minutes the game exploded into life. Three goals in seven first half minutes for Sutton Coldfield Town put them firmly in control.

Reece Gibson opened the scoring for Sutton Coldfield when he was played through and cut inside and scored a right footed shot into the right corner.

Four minutes later he had the ball in space in an almost identical position and it resulted in the same outcome. This time he chose the opposite corner to make it 2-0.

Then, right on the stroke of halftime, Ryan Shaw scored with a cross-come-shot that looped over Jay Alexanders head and ended up in the back of the net to make it 3-0.

Dynamo manager Lee Attenborough was clearly unhappy with his sides first half performance which was evidenced by the fact that he sent his side back out for the second half early so they could prepare for what they had to achieve.

And they started off strongly and never looked back. Right from the first whistle of the second half they were pressing and putting pressure on the Sutton Coldfield Town team, and they were attacking and looking threatening.

Curtis Burrows started the comeback by pulling one back from the penalty spot on the hour mark after Tristan Matthews beat his man well and got pulled down inside the penalty area.

Then Ryan Nesbitt pulled another one back for the Moes just two minutes later. Dan Collins, who had come on as a substitute, did brilliantly to beat his man in the box and cross the ball and Nesbitt’s first effort was parried back at him and he took his second opportunity well.

The game then did take a bit of a breather as the Sutton Coldfield team regrouped and started to waste time but with about six minutes to go Courey Grantham got the final touch on a ball that was bouncing around to make it 3-3 and to get his first goal for Dynamo.

Tempers flared then and just before the full time whistle it turned ugly as Carl Sibson brought down a Sutton Coldfield player who reacted badly and it turned into a fist fight and they both got sent off.
