PITCHING IN NPL MIDLANDS DIVISION LOUGHBOROUGH DYNAMO 3

WISBECH TOWN 2 LOUGHBOROUGH Dynamo got back to winning ways with a last gasp winner in a 3-2 win over Wisbech Town.

In the 94th minute, with what turned out to be the very last kick of the game, the ball found its way into the back of the net to give Dynamo all three points.

The game was dominated by the horrible weather conditions in which the game was played. Rain lashed down for most of the game and the strong wind had a big impact on the flight of the ball which affected how the game was played.

However, this didn’t stop The Moes from racing out of the traps. Right from the first whistle they put Wisbech under pressure with long throw-ins into the box and cross field balls to switch the play and Dynamo were clearly on the front foot.

And Dynamo got the breakthrough after just 16 minutes. Defender Michael Jacklin got his first goal for the club when he met Curtis Burrows in-swinging corner with a powerful header to make it 1-0.

Just four minutes later, it was 2-0. Kevin Bastos, who it seemed had the freedom of the right wing at times during the first half, was played through on the right-hand side and his powerful strike beat the keeper to double Dynamo’s lead.

Dynamo could, and possibly should, have been even further ahead in the first half but they were unable to take their chances and with just 10 minutes to go until half time, Wisbech got a goal back. Ruben Rabstein made a great save from a Wisbech corner, but the rebound fell to Jon Fairweather who tapped the ball home to make it 2-1.

After the break, Wisbech Town came out sensing an opportunity for a comeback and Dynamo struggled to get going. It was only a matter of time until the equaliser came and with just over 20 minutes to go, Dylan Edge equalised from a corner.

Both teams looked for a winner with Wisbech looking the most likely and they did have the ball in the back of the net but the linesman had his flag up for offside.

Then with less than 10 minutes to go, Kevin Bastos was played through into the penalty area and was brought down by the Wisbech defender. Without hesitation, the referee pointed straight at the penalty spot.

Curtis Burrows stepped up to take the penalty but for the second game in a row his penalty was saved by the opposition goalie.

After 90 minutes the referee gave three minutes added time which passed without any incidents of note. But right in the last few seconds Dynamo were given a free kick near the halfway line which was launched into the box and eventually fell to Dan Collins and his shot clipped the post and went into the net give Dynamo all three points.
