Dynamo hit for six in surprise Trophy defeat

-

FA TROPHY SECOND QUALIFYING ROUND. LOUGHBOROUGH DYNAMO 3 SPORTING KHALSA 6

LOUGHBOROUGH Dynamo crashed out of a cup competition at the first hurdle for the second time this season as they lost 6-3 at home to Sporting Khalsa in the FA Trophy.

There were eight second half goals in what turned out to be a crazy and frenetic game.

Dynamo manager Lee Attenborough did make a few changes to his team for this one and The Moes did struggle to get going for a time.

Sporting Khalsa could have been ahead in the first minute had it not been for a good save from Dynamo goalkeeper Ruben Rabstein.

However, Khalsa did open the scoring after just 10 minutes when winger James McGrady headed in a cross from the right to make it

1-0.

Khalsa then had a goal disallowed for offside just a couple of minutes later but after that Dynamo settled well and were pushing to find a way back into the game.

Dynamo did have chances in the first half, but they just couldn’t find the back of the net. Courey Grantham had a shot from near the penalty spot that was skied over the bar before Steadman, Markelic and Jacklin all had good efforts saved by the Khalsa goalkeeper which resulted in them going into half time 1-0 down.

However, the second half was totally different to the first. With eight goals going in, including four in five minutes, the Dynamo defence just struggled to get to grips with the Khalsa forwards.

Just five minutes into the second half, Curtis Burrows converted the rebound from his own missed penalty to equalise for Dynamo and make it 1-1.

Then just three minutes later, Khalsa were back ahead with an almost exact replica of their first goal but this time it was Josh Macman to make it 2-1.

There was then surprisingly a lull in the game for 20 minutes or so before the referee gave Dynamo another penalty.

This time club captain Rob Norris stepped up and scored it to make it 2-2.

Just two minutes later, Khalsa were ahead again through Jake Gosling when Dynamo were caught napping after just equalising.

Then straight from the kickoff,

Courey Grantham equalised for the Moes again with a low shot from just outside the box to make it 3-3.

And then it happened again. Straight from the kickoff Sporting Khalsa go straight down the pitch and score again through Gurjit Singh as a result of another calamitous defensive error to make it 4-3 to Khalsa.

After that Dynamo lost their heads a little bit and conceded two more goals in stoppage time. Jake Gosling scored his second goal of the game from a direct free kick that was 30 yards out before Jumaane Meggoe finished the scoring off to send Khalsa home with a 6-3 win.

After having won six of their last seven in the league including beating Sporting Khalsa 6-2, Dynamo will have been disappointed with their performance.
